NOTICE OF COMPLETION OF TENTATIVE ASSESSMENT ROLL
(Pursuant to Sections 506 and 526 of the Real Property Tax Law)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Tentative Assessment Roll of the Town of Liberty for the year 2026 will be filed with the Town Clerk at Town Hall, Liberty, New York, on May 1, 2026.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that said Assessment Roll may be viewed on the Town of Liberty website beginning May 1, 2026.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that said Assessment Roll shall be open for inspection by any interested person at the Assessor’s office at 119 North Main Street, ground floor entrance on the following dates and times:
- Saturday, May 02 | 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Monday, May 04 | 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, May 05 | 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Monday, May 18 | 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Any person wishing to meet with the Assessor to discuss the Tentative Assessment Roll is kindly asked to contact the Assessor’s Office to schedule an appointment.
The Board of Assessment Review will meet for the purpose of hearing complaints on May 26, 2026, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at 119 North Main St, Liberty, New York 12754 Top/Main floor entrance.
Complaint forms (RP-524) and Instructions (RP-524-INS) for this purpose may be obtained from the Office of Real Property Tax Services website at https://www.tax.ny.gov/forms/orpts/assessment_grievance.htm
Any person seeking an assessment reduction shall mail or deliver the grievance form, together with all supporting documentation, to the Assessor’s Office so that it is received on or before Grievance Day.
Please note that if the form is mailed, it will be deemed late unless it is received by Grievance Day, even if postmarked on or before that date.
Ideally, the form should be received at least four (4) business days prior to Grievance Day. Forms received fewer than four (4) business days prior to Grievance Day may be subject to adjournment at the request of the Assessor to allow adequate time for review and preparation of a response.
A personal appearance before the Board of Assessment Review is not required. All timely submitted complaints and supporting documentation will be reviewed by the Board whether or not the complainant appears in person.
